About Me.

I’m a qualitative postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in the School of Social Policy and Practice. I work at the Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR), a mixed methods center evaluating the impact of unconditional cash transfers across the United States. My research primarily focuses on understanding the impact of cash transfers among youth whether in K-12 schooling or community college and survivors of domestic violence.

Previously, I was a William Fontaine Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) in the Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education (TLTE) Division. I have a certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. My research interests include intersectionality, curriculum development, economic equity, culturally responsive pedagogies, gender-based violence, community organizing, teacher education, and digital methodology.

My dissertation research provided a qualitative investigation into how sexuality education showed up in three urban middle schools. Through a multi-site case study, this research investigated sexuality explicitly or implicitly, in cross-curricular ways from health, humanities, and STEM.

Currently, I am a contributor to the Re/Member Black Philly research project. Re/Member Black Philly is a digital scholarship and community archiving project that explores the Black history, memories, and contemporary experiences of the Black Philadelphia community. I am also a local community organizer whose largely work focuses on Black liberatory praxis, cultural archives, and educational equity.

I have a B.A. from the University of Michigan and studied English and Political Science. I have an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania in Education, Culture, and Society.

I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan. I taught English and service-learning for a few years. For almost a decade and prior to graduate school, I taught relationship and sexuality education in Philadelphia K-12 schools.

I created this site because I think it is important to share my scholarship and interests in a more public-facing way. I also hope it will show my commitment and values to research, teaching, and service.
