About Me.
I’m a Ph.D. candidate and William Fontaine Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) in the Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education (TLTE) Division. I have a certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. My research interests include sexuality education, gender-based violence, culturally responsive pedagogies, community organizing, teacher education, and digital methodology with a focus on K-12 schooling.
My dissertation research provides a qualitative investigation into how sexuality education is showing up in three urban middle schools. Through a multi-site case study, this research investigates sexuality education, explicitly or implicitly, in cross-curricular ways from health, humanities, and STEM.
Currently, I am a contributor to the Re/Member Black Philly research project. Re/Member Black Philly is a digital scholarship and community archiving project that explores the Black history, memories, and contemporary experiences of the Black Philadelphia community. I am also a local community organizer whose largely work focuses on Black liberatory praxis and educational equity.
I have a B.A. from the University of Michigan and studied English and Political Science. I have an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania in Education, Culture, and Society.
I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan. I taught healthy relationships and sexuality education for almost a decade in Philadelphia prior to graduate school.
I created this site because I think it is important to share my scholarship and interests in a more public-facing way. I also hope it will show my commitment and values to research, teaching, and service.

Visual/Digital Scholarship
In 2016, I took an ethnographic filmmaking class and made a film with 45 high school students. Afterward, I joined CAMRA (Collective for Advancing Multimodal Research Arts) and have been dedicated to visual and digital methods and approaches in my scholarship and community organizing work.
